Costa Rica La Perla SL-28 Honey
This La Perla gem comes to us from Carlos Barrantes and his wife Diana, who not only keep the highest standards of quality at their mill, but also enjoy experimenting with production of different varieties of coffee. This particular lot, SL-28, was more typically seen in Kenya, but Carlos was one of the first coffee farmers in Costa Rica to propagate it, and rather than hoarding the unique seeds for himself, he made sure his friends and neighboring farmers got in on the share as well. The way Carlos and Diana run their business resonates so much with us—a rising tide lifts all boats, and we’re proud to be a part of it.
This coffee is an adventure. If you’re looking for something out of the box, look no further. It has an intense tropical and vibrant flavor like you’d expect out of a SL-28, combined with the sweetness of a high-quality honey processed Costa Rican coffee.
