Guatemala Bella Vista
Guatemala Bella Vista – Strawberry, Tangerine, Cacao Nib
This coffee comes to us via our direct partnership with Luis Pedro Zelaya Zamora of the Bella Vista Mill in Antigua. Producers that work with Bella Vista receive the benefits of shared experience and knowledge that allow them to elevate the quality of coffee produced. The high quality and consistent coffee processing offered by Bella Vista is, in our eyes, the meaning of the phrase "a rising tide raising all ships." Luis Pedro and his family have built a veritable coffee powerhouse in Antigua as producers, exporters, and supporters of their coffee community, and we are excited to continue our partnership with them.
Sweet and balanced, the Guatemala Bella Vista is an excellent option for most coffee drinkers, whether you favor lighter single origins or something more traditional. It opens with a classic pairing of citrus and chocolate, hitting you with bright and sweet qualities of a tangerine, balanced with a more developed sweetness and depth of flavor akin to cacao nib. Ripe strawberry lingers on your palate as the coffee finishes.

Chimaltenango is located centrally among the producing regions in Guatemala, bordering the well know Antigua region. Its proximity to the three volcanoes (Agua, Fuego, & Acatenango) creates nutrient- and mineral-rich soil, making it ideal for producing coffee. Coffee from Chimaltenango has a similar profile to that of Antigua, which is a clean profile of chocolate and citrus acidity, but with an added layer of fruity complexity.
Processing method: Washed
Washed Coffees in Guatemala are first de-pulped to remove the fruit from the seed. Next, a fermentation process is used to remove the remaining mucilage. Finally, after the mucilage is removed, the coffee seeds are washed and laid out to dry on cement patios.
