Traveling in the Guatemalan region of Huehuetenango, or Huehue for short, is not easy. The mountainous hillsides and deep valleys make travel slow and winding, but the coffees that grow on these hillsides are renowned for their brightness and depth of flavor. This microlot, from Fincas Aguas Altas near the town of Coyegual, is grown with extreme attention and care. The coffee is hand-picked, hand sorted, and dried in small lots on a patio in the sun. The Mendez Brothers take great care in their product and it shows on the cupping table. Enjoy the citrus and sweet nutty notes in this coffee, and imagine yourself slowly traveling the sun-soaked backroads of Coyegual.
