Nelin’s first lot of honey processed coffee is sweet, bright, and chewy. It has the sweetness and nuance of dry strawberry, with the parainema variety bringing the punchy acidity of fresh lime juice. This coffee has the quintessential heavy body of a honey processed coffee, and finishes the chewy texture and flavors of a brown butter chocolate chip cookie. This is a great option for someone beginning to explore light roast single origins.
We have been fortunate to partner with Nelin Guzman for the past 7 years, and have him as a member of the Best Friend’s Club since 2020. Nelin is a second-generation coffee producer having learned the beautiful craft of coffee cultivation from his father Salvador. This year on our annual visit to Santa Barbara mountain, we had the pleasure to sit down with their family and be regaled with tales from the mountain as we drank the coffee that his son now propagates there. This hospitality and these traditions are something that have immense respect for, and are thankful to be a part of.
